CONCRETE REPAIR TRADESMAN RECOGNITION AWARD PROGRAM

GUIDELINES AND NOMINATION CRITERIA

The first place Concrete Repair Tradesman Recognition Award entry granted under this program will receive a $500.00 award that can be used for the purchase of new tools/equipment or for continuing education, training, or other industry certification. The first-place award will also receive a complimentary one-year individual membership in the Baltimore Washington Chapter of ICRI. The second and third place Concrete Repair Tradesman Recognition Award entries granted under this program will each receive a $250.00 award that can be used for the purchase of new tools/equipment or for continuing education, training, or other industry certification. The awardees will be invited guest to attend the 4th Quarter Awards Banquet Dinner to accept their award and be recognized. An article will also be printed in the Baltimore-Washington Chapter’s ICRI Aggregate publication. The award shall be for the current calendar year and no award recipient may be awarded more than twice in a five (5) year period.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the Baltimore-Washington ICRI Concrete Tradesman Contractor Recognition Award, the nominated individual must be either a superintendent, foreman, laborer, technician, or apprentice. The nominated individual must also be substantially employed by a recognized concrete repair/restoration contractor who is in good standing with the Baltimore-Washington ICRI Chapter. The nominated individual must be an employee of the recognized concrete repair/restoration contractor for a period of full one (1) year before he/she is eligible. The nomination for the Concrete Repair Tradesman Recognition Award may come from any active Baltimore-Washington ICRI member, but the nomination must be co-signed by the nominated individual’s company management.

The following outlines the nomination requirements and the award criteria that will be considered by the Baltimore-Washington ICRI Education & Scholarship Committee:

PROGRAM DETAILS – CONCRETE REPAIR TRADESMAN RECOGNITION AWARD

Members of the Education & Scholarship Committee will evaluate all nominations that are received by the published deadline. Nominations will be reviewed based on the evaluation criteria and the written recommendations provided by the individual who submitted the nomination. The Committee Chair will provide the Board of Directors with the committee’s recommendations for the award winners. The Board of Directors will vote and make final approvals.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Nominations will be evaluated by the Awards Committee on the basis of:
• Commitment to safety
• Leadership
• Reputation throughout the industry
• Professional achievement
• Overall contribution to the concrete repair & restoration industry.

The Awards Committee will notify the recipients no later than October 18, 2023. All nominated individuals will be notified of the final selections at that time.

Nominations must also include:
1. The Concrete Repair Tradesman Recognition Award application.
2. A letter of recommendation no longer than two (2) pages co-signed by the nominated individual’s company management.

PAYMENT OF AWARD

1. A gift card made payable to the recipient’s choice of a local tool supplier, builders box store, construction supply store, etc.

2. A check made directly to any institution with proof of registration or reimbursement to the individual with proof of registration and receipt of payment to an industry-related educational class, construction certification program, or continuing educational program tailored towards the concrete repair industry.

RESPONSIBILITY OF AWARD RECIPIENT

1. The award recipient is to use the award toward the purchase of tools, equipment, etc. or towards an educational class, construction certification program or continuing educational program.
2. The award recipient must enroll in an educational class, a construction certification program, or continuing educational program within 18 months following the announcement of the award.
3. Award recipients shall attend the 4th Quarter Awards Banquet Dinner in order to formally accept their award. If an individual cannot attend the Awards Banquet Dinner, the award will be mailed to the recipient.
